Pemberton Revival: A Project Close to My Heart / by Annie Mistak

Some projects stay with you long after they're finished. For me, Pemberton Revival is one of them.

During my time at Moontower Design Build, I had the opportunity to work alongside a talented team of architects, designers, and builders on some incredible Austin homes. Pemberton Revival holds a special place in that chapter of my career.

Tucked into Austin's Pemberton Heights neighborhood, this 1920s home had beautiful bones, but decades of additions and structural changes had taken their toll. The challenge was to bring it back to life without losing everything that made it special in the first place.

And that's exactly what I love about this project.

The kitchen became the heart of the home, a softly curved staircase added character to the entry, and a screened porch created a beautiful connection to the backyard. Even the more complicated architectural decisions, like the cantilevered second-floor addition, were designed to feel like a natural part of the home.

It was a wonderful example of what happens when everyone involved shares the same vision.

Looking back, my years at Moontower are such a meaningful part of the story behind starting my own business. I learned so much from working with people who cared deeply about their craft, challenged each other's ideas, and understood that great design is about more than creating beautiful spaces.

Frank Farkash, CEO and Architect at Moontower, shares:

"Annie brought such a thoughtful, creative perspective to our team. She has a wonderful eye for the details that give a home its personality, and it's been exciting to watch her take that experience and build something of her own."

I'm grateful for the relationships, experiences, and beautiful homes that came out of that time. It's always fun to look back at where you started and see how those experiences have shaped the work you do today.

Moontower continues to create remarkable homes as a custom home builder in Austin, TX, and I'm proud to have been part of that story.
